Mariana
A tribute to Duane Bryers, and his wonderful pin-up Hilda.
Duane Bryers was a commercial artist, well known painter of Americana throughout his life.
He began creating his Hilda collection in the mid 1950s.
"I got the idea for a plumpy gal pinup and thought I'd like to make it into a calendar series."
He took it to the top calendar maker in the country, who "reluctantly put it it line and figured it would last a short time. It went on for 36 years."
When I asked Mariana if she wanted to be my Hilda, she wholeheartedly agreed and we started planning. We set up in our little cozy portrait photographer studio, with a handful of props and her best friend as my assistant, and we managed to create all of these wonderful images.
